How To Be an Effective Listener

    Assalamualaikum, What's Up everybody today we will learn how to be a good communicator in English conversation

            Is a huge miscommunication that more talking equals better communications. Then we gonna learn that an effective listener is what you need to be a better communicator. In English conversation, people not just evaluate your vocabularies and your pronunciation,  But also your feedback in the conversation, Do you interest or not with the topic of the conversation. Do you understand the topic?

 

6 way To be an effective listener

1.      Give non-verbal feedback

           Great listeners provided feedback. When people always listening closely to you but you don't give any non-verbal feedback like eye contact, hide nods and facial expression to show that you necessary fake them in their conversation and noticed that you don't let them, They will begin to trust that you are exactly don't understand their conversation and it meant you will hurt them, So be as naturals as you can in your expression to make them feeling convenient with you, so you will get good feedback from them.

 

2.      Give verbal feedback

            Give them feedback like you seen very understand and interest with their conversation by some short words like “Hmm I hear You” “I know what you meant” “Uh I see” “Yeah”. Make them surely to trust you that you are really understand what their problem and purpose to talk with you.

 

3.      Listen to the big picture

           You may get understand exactly with the big picture of your conversation, not the detail so much. And try to listen and understand the big picture idea to make you stay comfortable to make the conversation and make the natural expression and give the convenient feedback, and you have to understand it as well as you can so you can keep your emotion naturally to make you more focused.

4.      Keep the conversation on them

           Keep the conversation focus of the person and topics, be sure that you are in focus about the conversation and don't try to make the topics is about you or your family or try to bring another topics in the conversation

5.      Take concise talking turns

           When you have turned to talk, make sure that your talking turn is concise, so you just have to say what you need to say including the complete information in your words, Stick to one sentence or two and ask them a question, give your opinion and then ask the question to make sure that their answer is feedback for you.

6.      Take action and follow up

Don't let the person and try to follow what they gonna do after the conversation with you, send them a message or email to make sure that  you are care about them. And in a social situation, if you really care about them, you will revisit the topic in it will make you more focused on their conversation in the another meeting. And it shows that you have given good feedback and you really understand them.
